To what extent may the promotion of these capacities be oriented towards normative goals? And how can the social complexity of global issues be dealt with? Both matters have been discussed in the debate on global education. This article derives impulses from the different theoretical positions in global education to dealing with global issues from a religious point of view: Religious education should initiate a free reflection on worldwide problems – on the foundation of a Christian concept of justice within a politically dimensioned education. Aus der 1972 skizzierten Idee des ökumenischen Lernens sind diverse Konzepte mit dem Anspruch entstanden, eine „Antwort auf die drängende Frage nach der Gerechtigkeit vor dem Hintergrund eines spezifisch religi- 2 ösen Werte- und Begründungshintergrunds christlicher Prägung“ zu formulieren.
