Hinweise zur Musikgruppe:

Orphaned Land (engl. ‚verwaistes Land‘) ist eine Metal-Band aus Israel, welche die Elemente des Metal (hauptsächlich Death- und Doom-Metal-Elemente, aber auch Einflüsse anderer Genres) mit orientalischen Folk-Klängen vermischt. So ist es keine Seltenheit, dass orientalische Instrumente wie Oud, Darbuka, Kanun oder dementsprechende Perkussion, sowie Gesänge oder Chöre aus dem Nahen Osten zu hören sind. In den Texten werden die drei abrahamitischen Religionen behandelt: das Judentum, das Christentum und der Islam. Die Band setzt sich seit Anbeginn für ein friedliches Miteinander der drei Religionen ein.

Über den Musiktext:

Das Lied handelt von zwei Kindern, einem Palästinenser und einem Israeli, die als Freunde aufwachsen, aber als sie älter werden und ihre Ausbildung beginnen, wird ihnen beigebracht, einander zu hassen und als "Todfeinde" zu betrachten. Der "Waffenstillstand", auf den sich das Lied bezieht, ist ihre Kindheit, und "the morning comes" bezieht sich darauf, wenn sie junge Erwachsene werden. Zum gegenseitigen Hass erzogen, sind sie nicht mehr Freunde, sondern Feinde.

Es endet damit, dass beide im Konflikt wieder aufeinandertreffen und sich - unerkannt ("I see a shadow and we both shoot in the name of God") gegenseitig töten.
